Our region is fortunately not as rugged as the main road to Mombassa, leaving Nairobi, where a friend insists there’s a sign reading Take Notice: When This Sign Is Under Water, This Road Is Impassable.

But we’re still fortunate to live in a rural area. There’s lots to do, and much of it involves moving stuff, be that horses, boats, caravans, bikes or even – toughest of all – children and all their associated paraphernalia. So there’s big demand for a rugged seven seater vehicle with towing ability and the reassurance that it won’t get stuck on the first piece of wet grass it encounters.

The car I tested was Land Rover’s 3 liter V6 Discovery 4 in top of the range HSE trim. That’s the new one! With a new look and new engines. Plus a seriously impressive front elevation. The step up into the cabin takes some elevation too – fetch me a box somebody – and the climber is rewarded with almost every luxury. All versions are classy but the HSE has premium luxury with ruched leather seats, polished wood trim, three panel anoramic opening roof and a 14-speaker surround sound audio system.

As well as a packed list of standard fittings the test car had notable extras even including a ‘fridge, a heated steering wheel and a surround camera system. The downside of all this is that while you can buy a 2.7 liter ’standard’ version (the word ‘basic really doesn’t apply here!) for £33000, the big-motor-big-extras version will see your bank account depleted to the tune of £53000. Ouch. But that’s your decision after all…

This is a heavy car so the engine has plenty to do. Fortunately it’s well up to the task and while progress may initially seem a bit ‘gentle’ a shove on the accelerator will soon see you and six passengers marching along as smartly as you’ll ever need. Maximum speed is 112mph. Cruising is remarkably quiet and refined – right up there with the luxury saloons – and on a six hour trip right through London and out on the south side I was utterly relaxed, with not a twinge to legs or back. Or neck. Or arms. In fact, forget physio, buy a Discovery 4.

Even the legions of London’s cyclists who were determined to end their lives beneath my wheels by jumping lights, cutting up the inside and then diving across the front to take a right turn were denied their death wishes since the elevated driving position and big mirrors allowed me to spot them like a Spitfire pilot protecting his squadron from the enemy on their ’six’.

This isn’t the ideal car to buy if you want to go mad on the twisty bits – but it’s still composed, remarkably quiet, quick and smoother than most. What’s more, you’ll be seeing more than 30mpg when you come to fill up. Just a few years ago that would have seemed utterly impossible.

In terms of the air-conditioned accommodation, there are two big seats up front, three behind, and then two more beautifully trimmed examples rise from the boot floor like twin cinema organists ascending from the basement. The ‘jump seats’ are complete with their own integrated safety belts, plus cup holders and even a power socket for phones, games and so on!

Ok let’s not dodge the big issue – we know that Land Rover has suffered in the past with reliability matters, so I’m pleased to see the firm appears to have considerably upped its game. Our ‘real world’ investigation found owners of newer models reporting: ‘Quite simply the best car I have owned’. ‘Has never missed a beat’. ‘Returned a staggering 37mpg’. ‘I would recommend the car to anyone’. ‘Can’t fault it for comfort and the smoothness of the drive’. ‘7 full size seats’. ‘I’ve had 6ft friends in the rear row of seats with no complaints’. ‘Solidly built’.

Little wonder, then, that one of the UK’s big specialist magazines has made the Landy its ‘4×4 of the year 2010′.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is highly revered among the Android phones on the market. With no new name, this phone is constructed on a similar model. Essentially, the mini is a compact model of the phone it takes after. This phone functions with the Android 1.6 operating system by Google and combines it with the UX interface by Ericsson.

With a weight of less than one hundred grams, the phone features a touch screen of only two and half inches in size. It may be small, but it packs quite a punch. The HTC Desire is a crowd-pleaser among the Android phones. This Android phone utilizes the Nexus One handset, which was constructed by Google. In fact, the HTC Desire is pretty much an enhancement of its original model. Equipped with an Amoled WVGA display, the screen is almost four inches big. It uses a snapdragon processor which operates on the Android 2.1 operating system. Also, this phone manipulates the use of Adobe Flash (v. 10.1). To help the user operate the system, the screen is a touch screen that features optical joystick and track pad technology.

T-Mobile’s G2 Touch is the follow up to the G1, which was the very first Google Android phone. This model improves upon the former model which had a slide out keyboard and was quite heavy. The keyboard is a thing of the past, due to the favoritism of a touch screen that challenges the iPhone. The camera has five megapixel capabilities and you are able to have an eight-hour conversation before the battery dies and needs to be re-charged. It is a good idea to take note of the model being based just as much on the HTC Hero as it is on the G1, so if T-Mobile is not your cell phone provider of choice, you can find an equivalent cell phone with a different service provider. After coming up with the Android system, Google has allowed other cell phone companies to compete with Apple’s iPhone. The Android is noted as Apple’s major competition and that is how many cell phone companies are able to offer similar smart phones to people who are in the market for an upgrade from their current phone to something a little more smart and savvy. In truth, cell phones now have other uses than just making phone calls. Now, you can snap a photo, play your tunes and hook up to the Internet. Bear in mind your posture when standing and sitting. How should you stand?

Adopting the correct posture while standing is initially hard, because you have been standing a certain way for so long, and any change you make to your posture (even if it is for the better) is likely to feel different at first. If you are finding it troublesome to fix your posture on your own. they will be happy to assist you. How should you sit?

It is very difficult to take up the ideal posture while sitting in these types of chairs. They ordinarily make you to sit slouching with a curved spine. If you are watching TV you may have to change the height of the TV set. When you are reading. you should hold yourself at an slight angle. This makes sure that your book is at eye level, so you don’t have to strain your neck to look down at it.
